Study Summary

This trial tests the effect of using a Life Story Questionnaire on physical therapy participation, depression, and quality of life in people with dementia.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for individuals aged 60-89 with mild to moderate dementia, living in a Texas facility, and attending physical therapy. They must have certain cognitive function scores (10-24 on the Mini-Mental State Examination). Those who are deaf, blind, speak no English, or have had recent psychiatric hospitalizations cannot join.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests if using a Life Story Questionnaire (LSQ) during physical therapy affects participation levels, depression symptoms, and quality of life in dementia patients. Participants will be split into two groups: one using LSQ and one without it during their regular physical therapy sessions.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this intervention involves non-medical tools like questionnaires rather than drugs or invasive procedures, significant side effects are not expected. However, emotional distress due to discussing personal history could potentially occur.
