Study Summary

This trial tests the effectiveness of an adapted program to improve self-efficacy in Latino family caregivers, & measure its effect on depression & well-being.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for Latino family members aged 18 or older who are unpaid caregivers to a person with mid-stage dementia, as indicated by a GDS score of 4-6. They must assist with daily living activities and be able to read and speak English or Spanish. Those with severe depression or previous LST participation are excluded.Check my eligibility

The study aims to culturally adapt the Learning Skills Together (LST) program for Latino caregivers and test its effectiveness in boosting their confidence in caregiving tasks, reducing depression, and improving overall well-being compared to those on a waiting list.See study design

Group I: Learning Skills Together-Latino Caregivers (LST-LC)Experimental Treatment1 Intervention
The study team convened a team of health care professionals, including nursing, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, gerontology, nutrition, and dental hygiene, to develop a community-based education program for family caregivers.
Group II: Wait-List Control GroupActive Control1 Intervention
Randomized subjects will wait for a 3 month period before being assigned to the LST-LC education. This group of subjects will act as the control group.
