What is being tested?
The study tests a two-step protocol using geriatric screening tools to improve care for elderly patients in the ED. The first step involves quick screens for fall risk and delirium; concerning results lead to a comprehensive multidisciplinary assessment in an observation unit.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial focuses on implementing assessment protocols rather than medication or invasive procedures, traditional side effects are not applicable. However, there may be indirect effects related to changes in patient management.
