Study Summary

This trial will compare how well a swab from inside the cheek detects the coronavirus in kids, to the standard nose and throat swab.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for children under 18 who show up at certain emergency departments and are willing to get the standard COVID-19 test. They or their guardians must consent to participate and be able to communicate in English or French.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study is testing a new way of checking for COVID-19 using buccal (cheek) swabs with a device called ID NOW, comparing it with the regular nose/throat swab tests at pediatric centers across Canada.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
There may not be significant side effects from the buccal swab itself, but some discomfort or gagging might occur during sample collection.
