What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This study aims to assess whether sending patients in a county health care system additional FIT Kits can increase the FIT Kit return rate enough to warrant the extra cost. To do this, the health system mailed a random subset of patients ages 60 to 75 a FIT Kit in November 2024 in addition to sending patients an annual FIT Kit mailing. This work analyzes the return rate of mailed FIT Kits within 60-days of the November mailing.

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

This trial is for individuals aged 60 to 75 within a county health care system who are due for colorectal cancer screening. The study specifically looks at whether sending these patients an extra FIT Kit can improve the return rates for testing.

Inclusion Criteria

I am between 60 and 74 years old.
I am due for a colorectal cancer screening.
Not sent a FIT Kit in the past 3 months

Exclusion Criteria

I am either younger than 60 or older than 74.
Incarcerated
Sent a FIT Kit in the past 3 months

Timeline for a Trial Participant

Screening

Participants are screened for eligibility to participate in the trial

What Are the Treatments Tested in This Trial?

  • Mailed Additional FIT Kit
Trial Overview The intervention being tested is the mailing of an additional FIT Kit to see if it increases the rate at which patients complete and return their kits. Patients are randomly chosen to either receive this extra kit or continue with usual care, which involves annual FIT Kit mailings.
