Study Summary
This trial proposes to combine mindfulness-based interventions with physical activity to reduce chronic pain without needing medications.
Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults over 18 living in Oconee and Pickens County who can understand English, with mild to severe chronic pain like neuropathic pain or migraines. It's not for those already practicing mindfulness, without chronic pain, unable to walk unassisted for 5 minutes, or don't have regular pain.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests mindful walking (MW), which combines light physical activity with mindfulness to manage chronic pain. Participants focus on their footsteps and acknowledge thoughts and feelings without judgment during the walks.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since MW involves gentle activity and mental exercises, side effects might include muscle soreness or strain from walking. Emotional discomfort could arise when dealing with thoughts and feelings during mindfulness practice.
