Study Summary

This trial will test a home TENS machine for pain relief in 60 adults, divided into 3 groups.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for Loma Linda University students aged 20-40, with chronic neck or upper body pain rated less than 5/10 on the pain scale. It's not for those outside this age range, using pain meds within six hours of data collection, with contraindications to electrotherapy, acute pain, severe chronic pain over 5/10 on the VAS, or currently receiving clinical treatment for pain.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) as a home treatment for reducing chronic neck or upper body pain. Sixty adults will be randomly placed into three groups: normal (no intervention), control (placebo), and intervention (active TENS use).See study design
What are the potential side effects?
While TENS is generally safe, potential side effects can include skin irritation where the electrodes are placed, tingling sensation during use that may be uncomfortable for some people and muscle soreness after use.
