Web-Based App for Enlarged Prostate and Kidney Stones
What You Need to Know Before You Apply
What is the purpose of this trial?
This trial tests whether a website called WellPrept can help patients better understand medical conditions like enlarged prostate or kidney stones. The researchers aim to determine if using the website increases patient confidence, reduces clinic time, and decreases emergency room visits after surgery. One group of participants will use the WellPrept website, while another group will not, allowing for a comparison of results. Suitable candidates for this trial include men with urinary issues from an enlarged prostate scheduled for specific surgery, or anyone undergoing surgery for kidney stones. As an unphased trial, this study offers participants the chance to contribute to innovative research that could enhance patient education and outcomes.
Will I have to stop taking my current medications?
The trial information does not specify whether you need to stop taking your current medications.
What prior data suggests that this web-based app is safe for patients with enlarged prostate and kidney stones?
Research has shown that the WellPrept app is designed to assist individuals with an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH) and kidney stones by offering educational support. As an online educational tool, not a medicine or medical device, WellPrept has no direct evidence of causing harm, meaning it lacks the side effects associated with medications.
The app aims to enhance users' understanding of their health conditions, potentially boosting their confidence and reducing the need for additional doctor visits. As an online resource, it poses no risk of physical harm, unlike treatments involving surgery or medication.
In summary, WellPrept is safe to use as an information tool. It does not carry the risks associated with medical treatments, allowing users to engage with it without concern for physical side effects.12345Why are researchers excited about this trial?
Researchers are excited about the WellPrept app because it transforms how information is delivered to patients with enlarged prostates (BPH) and kidney stones. Unlike traditional methods, which often rely on verbal explanations during consultations, WellPrept provides comprehensive digital resources that patients can access before their appointments. This web-based approach empowers patients to understand their conditions and treatment options better, potentially leading to more informed and productive discussions with their healthcare providers. By enhancing patient education and engagement, WellPrept could improve treatment outcomes and patient satisfaction, setting a new standard in pre-consultation care.
What evidence suggests that the WellPrept website is effective for enlarged prostate and kidney stones?
Research has shown that online medical tools like the WellPrept website can enhance people's understanding of their health conditions. Many individuals lack knowledge about issues such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), which involves an enlarged prostate. In this trial, participants in the Post-WellPrept arm will access the WellPrept website, which offers easy access to information to boost patients' confidence and understanding of their condition. Although direct evidence of WellPrept's effectiveness is still being collected, the tool aims to make doctor visits more efficient and reduce unnecessary hospital trips by equipping patients with essential knowledge. This approach can potentially lead to better outcomes for those dealing with conditions like BPH and kidney stones.14678
