Study Summary

This trial will assess the effect of VR active video gaming vs. traditional balance training exercises on balance & walking in youth with ASD.

Who is the study for?
Youth aged 7-22 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) levels 1 or 2 can join this trial. They must be able to follow instructions and stand unaided for at least 20 minutes. Those with conditions that limit physical activity, vision or hearing issues not corrected, balance disorders, heart problems restricting exercise, epilepsy affected by screens, recent surgeries affecting mobility, or severe behaviors are excluded.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study is testing if playing Virtual Reality games using Nintendo Switch Sports improves balance and walking in youth with ASD compared to standard physical therapy exercises. Participants will do their assigned activities via Zoom three times a week for two weeks and have their balance and walking assessed before, after the intervention, and four weeks later.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
There may be minimal side effects from participating in this trial as it involves physical activity through video gaming or standard exercises. However, participants might experience fatigue or discomfort from the activities.
