What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This trial aims to determine if online training can help autistic adults and their learning partners enhance emotional understanding and relationship skills. The autistic adult receives Kairon Leadership Training focused on emotional literacy, while their learning partner undergoes Kairon Autism Accommodation Training. Both participants will provide feedback on how the training affects them and each other. Ideal participants include autistic adults aged 18-36 who are generally healthy and have a trusted learning partner willing to participate. Both must be comfortable with online learning and have access to a computer and the internet. As an unphased trial, this study offers a unique opportunity to contribute to pioneering research in developing emotional and relationship skills for autistic adults.

Do I have to stop taking my current medications to join the trial?

The trial information does not specify whether you need to stop taking your current medications. It mainly focuses on your ability to participate in the online training and assessments.

What prior data suggests that this training is safe?

Research has shown that both the Kairon Autism Accommodation Training and Kairon Leadership Training are safe and easy to manage. The Kairon Leadership Training, in particular, aids autistic adults in understanding emotions and building healthy relationships. This training typically does not cause negative side effects, making it a comfortable choice for participants.

The Kairon Autism Accommodation Training aims to improve interactions between autistic individuals and their learning partners. Although specific information on side effects is not available, the focus on skill-building and support suggests it is safe and non-invasive.

Overall, these trainings are educational and supportive, presenting a low risk of negative effects. Participants in past studies generally found these programs helpful and easy to manage.12345

Why are researchers excited about this trial?

Researchers are excited about the Emotional Intelligence Training for Autism because it offers a novel approach focusing on developing emotional and leadership skills, which are often not the primary targets of traditional autism therapies. Unlike standard treatments such as behavioral therapy or educational interventions, this training emphasizes enhancing emotional intelligence and leadership, which could lead to improved social interactions and personal growth for autistic adults. By tailoring the program to include autism accommodation training for learning partners, it also aims to create a more supportive environment, facilitating better communication and understanding between autistic individuals and those around them.

What evidence suggests that this trial's treatments could be effective for autism?

Research has shown that Kairon's online leadership training for autistic adults can enhance emotional understanding and foster healthier relationships. In this trial, participants will receive either the leadership training for autistic adults or the autism accommodation training for learning partners. Those who completed similar programs experienced fewer social challenges and felt their needs were better met. They also reported increased comfort in social situations. The Kairon training for learning partners helps them better understand and interact with autistic individuals. This approach aims to improve social and emotional experiences for both autistic adults and their learning partners. Overall, these trainings focus on practical skills and understanding, potentially leading to meaningful improvements in daily life.12367

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

This trial is for pairs consisting of an autistic adult aged 18-36 and a non-autistic learning partner who knows them, like a parent. The autistic person should be interested in improving emotional intelligence and relationship skills, while the learning partner aims to better accommodate ASD.
