Study Summary

This trial will compare two asthma interventions to see which one is more effective in reducing symptoms, improving management, and lung function, and decreasing emergency visits and hospitalizations.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for children aged 12-16 with moderate to severe asthma, who've been to the emergency department at CHM for an asthma attack. They must have had at least two hospital visits in the past year and live within 20 miles of CHM. The child's parent or guardian must agree to participate, and they can't join if there are severe mental health issues, cognitive impairments, or current suicidal/homicidal tendencies.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study compares 'Reach for Control' (RFC) with 'Michigan MATCH' in improving asthma symptoms and management while reducing emergency visits. It integrates these interventions into hospital EDs via community health workers and tests their real-world effectiveness.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
While specific side effects aren't detailed here, typical concerns may include discomfort from intervention procedures or stress related to participation. Side effects will depend on the nature of each intervention.
