Study Summary
This trial is investigating whether using transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) while a person with aphasia undergoes speech-language therapy (SLT) can improve language functioning more than SLT alone.

Study Objectives

Change in trained conversational script.
Secondary outcome measures
Change in the Aphasia Quotient (AQ) of Western Aphasia Battery-Revised (WAB-R)
Change in untrained conversational script
Maintenance of trained conversational script

Group I: Offline tDCS-before therapyActive Control1 Intervention
Participants will receive 20 minutes of tDCS prior to the 40 minute speech-language therapy session.
Group II: Online tDCSActive Control1 Intervention
tDCS will be applied at the beginning of the 40 minute speech-language therapy session and will last for 20 minutes.
Group III: Offline tDCS-after therapyActive Control1 Intervention
Participants will receive 20 minutes of tDCS after the 40 minute speech-language therapy session.
Group IV: Sham tDCSPlacebo Group1 Intervention
Sham tDCS will be applied at the beginning of the 40 minute speech-language therapy session.
