Study Summary

This trial will assess whether patient's preferred music reduces pain and anxiety during cystoscopies when compared to classical music and the absence of music.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for men and women aged 40 or older who need a diagnostic or surveillance flexible cystoscopy at an outpatient urology clinic. It's not for those needing rigid cystoscopy, any manipulation during the procedure, anyone who took narcotics/analgesics in the last day, has a current UTI, chronic pelvic pain conditions, urethra problems, or can't complete surveys.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests if patient preferred music reduces pain and anxiety more than classical music or no music during flexible cystoscopies. Participants are randomly placed into one of three groups: their favorite tunes, classical melodies, or silence. Pain and anxiety levels will be measured using specific scales.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial involves listening to music rather than taking medication or undergoing medical treatments, there are no direct side effects associated with the interventions being studied.
