Study Summary

This trial is testing a new intervention for young adults who abuse drugs and alcohol and have been in trouble with the law, to see if it can help reduce criminal activity.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for young adults aged 16-26 with a history of alcohol or drug abuse and recent justice involvement, who are not currently homeless or in-patient. They must have had an arrest or release from custody within the last 18 months and show signs of substance abuse disorder.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests Multisystemic Therapy-Emerging Adults (MST-EA) against Enhanced Treatment as Usual to see if it reduces criminal activity, substance use, improves gainful activities like work and education, stabilizes housing, decreases antisocial behavior, and enhances self-regulation among emerging adults.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since MST-EA is a behavioral therapy intervention rather than a medication, it does not have traditional side effects. However, participants may experience emotional discomfort addressing personal issues during therapy sessions.
