Study Summary
This trial will study the effects of light on memory in people with mild cognitive impairment and compare them to healthy age-matched controls.
Who is the study for?
This trial is for people with mild cognitive impairment or those who are healthy but match the age of participants. They must have specific levels of pigment density in their eyes. It's not open to individuals taking sleep or antidepressant meds, those with certain eye diseases, extensive brain vascular disease, Parkinson's, bipolar disorder, seasonal depression, diabetes, high blood pressure or using beta blockers/melatonin supplements.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study is testing how blue and green light interventions affect melatonin levels and memory by changing the light distribution pattern from 'on-axis' (directed to the center of vision) to 'off-axis' (directed towards the periphery). It involves comparing these effects between people with mild cognitive impairment and healthy controls.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Potential side effects may include discomfort due to exposure to different lighting conditions which could potentially affect sleep patterns or mood given that light has an influence on circadian rhythms.
