This trial seeks to understand if a nutritional intervention in the lives of seniors living in a community setting could positively affect their health.
Who is the study for?
This study is for older men and women living in Grace Village or Vü who can understand, read, and write French or English. They must have good vision and hearing to take cognitive tests. Those with a BMI under 22, malnutrition, high hypoglycemia risk, severe digestive diseases, severe dysphagia, or using certain supplements/diets that increase ketones cannot join.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The KetoHome Study is testing the feasibility of a low carb diet versus a regular diet in preventing Alzheimer's Disease within a senior community setting. It aims to see if such nutritional intervention research can be effectively conducted in small communities.See study design

Participants will eat a low carb diet while glucose is continuously monitored, heart rate and number of steps is measured for 10 days.
Group II: 10 days control dietPlacebo Group1 Intervention
Participants stay on their regular diet while glucose is continuously monitored, heart rate and number of steps is measured for 10 days.

This trial includes the following eligibility criteria:- I am experiencing malnutrition.I am not using any ketone supplements or following a ketogenic diet.I am at high risk for low blood sugar.I can understand, read, and write in French or English.Your body mass index is less than 22.You have a digestive disease that can get worse with changes in your diet.I have severe difficulty swallowing.I am an older adult living in Grace Village and Vü.You are taking part in other research studies focused on nutrition or changing metabolism at the same time.
