Study Summary

This trial will study whether visual imagery and behavioral techniques can reduce alcohol craving and drinking. Healthy people ages 21-65 who are mildly concerned about their drinking and have had these habits in the past 3 months are eligible. The trial includes 6 study visits over 4 weeks.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for healthy adults aged 21-65 who are mildly concerned about their drinking habits. Women must have had more than 3 drinks on any day or over 7 weekly, and men more than 4 daily or over 14 weekly in the past three months. Participants should not be trying to quit drinking soon, must use effective birth control, and cannot have a substance-use disorder other than alcohol or nicotine.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests if visual imagery and behavioral techniques can lower the urge to drink and actual alcohol consumption. It involves six visits over four weeks where participants will interact with cues related to alcohol while their reactions are monitored. They'll also report their drinking habits via a provided smartphone.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial focuses on behavioral interventions rather than medication, traditional side effects like those seen with drugs may not apply. However, participants might experience discomfort from craving assessments or stress due to discussing personal drinking behaviors.
