Study Summary

This trial will test whether a primary care-based approach to weight loss, including online tracking and community support, is feasible and acceptable to adults with obesity.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults aged 18-75 with obesity (BMI ≥30 kg/m2) who are interested in weight loss strategies. Participants must have access to online tools via a device with data or Wi-Fi and be able to read English. Excluded are those already in a weight loss program, tracking food intake regularly, having recent cardiac events, planning to move soon, pregnant or undergoing cancer treatment.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests a primary-care based method that helps patients engage with online behavior tracking and community support networks for losing weight over 12 weeks. It aims to see if this 'facilitation condition' is practical and well-received by participants.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since the intervention involves non-medical methods like behavior tracking and community support, there may not be direct side effects as seen with medications; however, lifestyle changes could lead to temporary discomforts such as hunger pangs or muscle soreness from increased physical activity.
