Study Summary

This trial will test an online program to help improve emotion regulation and communication between parents and sons to reduce the risk of dating violence and aggressive attitudes.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for boys aged 12-15 who are in the 7th or 8th grade at a participating school, identify as male, and live with their parent/guardian over half the time. Both must speak English or Spanish and agree to join the study. Boys with reading difficulties below a 4th-grade level or developmental delays, or those from households previously involved in the study cannot participate.Check my eligibility

The trial is testing Project STRONG, a web-based program aimed at improving emotion control and communication between sons and parents to reduce boys' risk of engaging in dating violence and changing attitudes that support aggressive behavior.See study design

Group I: Project STRONGExperimental Treatment1 Intervention
Project STRONG is an active skill-based intervention designed to prevent adolescent dating violence among middle school boys. Boys and a parent will complete the web-based program together focusing on improving communication and emotion regulation.
Group II: Health PromotionActive Control1 Intervention
Health Promotion is an information-based program designed to mimic content areas provided during middle-school health education. The content is provided via a web-based interface to mirror the content delivery in the active intervention (Project STRONG).
