Study Summary

This trial project seeks to reduce Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) by maximizing Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) claims in low-income families. Outreach and education on ACEs and EITC benefits will be integrated across a group of community-based initiatives, training programs, networks, and collaborators that work with frontline health workers.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults over 18 in Bernalillo County, New Mexico who qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) but haven't claimed it in the past year. Participants must be clients of certain health workers or staff at partner agencies and speak English or Spanish. Children, fetuses, those unable to consent, and incarcerated individuals cannot participate.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The trial aims to reduce risk factors related to Adverse Childhood Experiences by increasing EITC claims among low-income families. It involves outreach & screening for EITC eligibility, assistance with claiming EITC benefits, and training on both ACEs and EITC for community health workers.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this intervention involves financial support rather than medical treatment, traditional side effects are not applicable. However, participants may experience changes in stress levels due to financial relief or frustration if they encounter difficulties during the process.
