- You have high blood pressure caused by another health condition.You have a specific genetic variant called rs2540923A or both Striatin rs888083 and rs6744560 risk alleles.You are 18 years old or older.You are taking a maximum of two medications for high blood pressure.Your kidney, metabolism, electrolytes, blood cells, and cholesterol levels are within normal range.If you are taking certain medications for blood pressure, you need to stop taking them for 3 months before participating in the study.You have a heart condition other than high blood pressure.You have kidney, heart, or brain diseases.You have diabetes.You are a smoker.You are taking medications for high blood pressure or thyroid replacement, but no other medications are allowed.
