- You have used methadone before.You have used illegal drugs for non-medical reasons in the past.You are experiencing short-term pain that has been present for less than a week and is currently ongoing.The doctor plans on sending you home with pain medication in pill form.You have had a bad reaction to any of the study drugs before.You have taken ibuprofen, acetaminophen, or opioids within the last 4 hours.You have a prior history of stomach ulcers.You have a medical condition that may impact how your body processes pain medication like opioids, acetaminophen or ibuprofen. This includes conditions like hepatitis, kidney problems, thyroid issues, Addison's or Cushing's disease.You have a long-term condition that causes frequent pain, such as sickle cell disease, fibromyalgia, or nerve damage.
