Study Summary

This trial is studying how well a low-fat, balanced diet works to prevent disease progression in patients with nonmelanomatous skin cancer.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for Caucasian individuals aged 15 or older with basal cell carcinoma or squamous cell carcinoma of the skin, having had no more than two prior skin cancers and without a genetic predisposition to skin cancer. Participants should not be diabetic, have ingested arsenic, be on certain fat-requiring diets, or have had specific treatments like x-ray therapy for acne.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study is testing whether a low-fat diet can prevent disease progression in patients with nonmelanomatous skin cancer. It's a phase II trial where participants are randomly assigned to follow this special diet to see if it affects their skin cancer outcomes.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since the intervention involves dietary changes rather than medication, side effects may include changes in weight, energy levels, and possibly nutritional deficiencies if not properly managed.
