Study Summary
This trial is studying how well interferon alfa and interleukin-2 work in treating patients with kidney cancer that has spread to other parts of the body.
Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults over 18 with metastatic kidney cancer who are not pregnant, do not have HIV, hepatitis B, ongoing bleeding, systemic infections or severe psychiatric diseases. They should not be on steroids and must use effective contraception if fertile. Patients need measurable disease, decent physical function (Karnofsky score of at least 50%), and a life expectancy over three months.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study is testing the combination of two biological therapies: interferon alfa and interleukin-2 to see how well they work together in treating patients with advanced kidney cancer that has spread to other parts of the body.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Interferon alfa and interleukin-2 can cause flu-like symptoms such as fever, chills, fatigue; they may also lead to low blood pressure or affect liver function. Some people might experience nausea or changes in mood.
