Study Summary
This trial is studying how well combining radiation therapy with hyperbaric oxygen works in treating patients with newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme.
Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults over 18 with a new diagnosis of glioblastoma multiforme, confirmed by tissue analysis. Participants should have some remaining tumor visible on MRI after initial surgery, be in good physical condition (Karnofsky score 70-100%), and expected to live more than 8 weeks. It's not for those with severe lung disease, untreated collapsed lung, pregnant or nursing women, recent other cancers except skin cancer, uncontrolled seizures, or prior treatments for their brain tumor.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study is testing the combination of radiation therapy with hyperbaric oxygen treatment in patients with newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme. The goal is to see if breathing pure oxygen under high pressure can boost the effectiveness of radiation in targeting brain tumor cells.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Potential side effects may include fatigue from radiation therapy and ear pain or sinus discomfort due to increased pressure during hyperbaric oxygen treatment. There might also be a risk of oxygen toxicity which can affect the lungs and central nervous system.
