- Your kidney function is very low, based on a certain calculation.You have a serious illness like cancer, HIV, or AIDS at the same time as the study.You are taking three or more different high blood pressure medications, including a water pill, and your doses have stayed the same for at least two months before the screening. Your medications are expected to stay the same for at least three months.You have been admitted to the hospital more than once in the past year for very high blood pressure.You have a current or past history of heart failure with a low left ventricular ejection fraction.You are taking a lot of psychiatric medications and antidepressants.Your average blood pressure measured at the screening visit is consistently higher than 160 mmHg.You have had a heart attack, unstable chest pain, fainting, or a stroke within the last 6 months.You are between 18 and 85 years old.You have experienced a drop in blood pressure when standing up more than once.You are a smoker.You have serious heart rhythm problems like 2nd or 3rd degree AV block.You are taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
