Study Summary

This trial is testing whether minocycline, a drug typically used to treat acne, can help to lower blood pressure in people who have hypertension that doesn't respond well to other treatments.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults aged 18-85 with high blood pressure that's not controlled despite taking three different anti-hypertensive drugs, including a diuretic. Participants must have stable medication doses and an office systolic blood pressure over 160 mmHg. Pregnant women or those with heart failure, severe diseases like cancer or HIV/AIDS, recent cardiovascular events, certain arrhythmias, or using NSAIDs can't join.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests if Minocycline can lower blood pressure in patients whose hypertension doesn't respond to standard treatments. It's a double-blind trial where participants randomly receive either Minocycline or a placebo without knowing which one they're getting.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Minocycline may cause side effects such as dizziness, fatigue, digestive issues like nausea or diarrhea, skin reactions like rashes and itching. There might also be risks of more serious conditions affecting the liver or causing drug hypersensitivity.
