What is the purpose of this trial?

The goals of this randomized controlled trial are 1) to test the efficacy of an app-based program in reducing physician burnout vs. no app (control) in 100 physicians; 2) to explore the role of an online live training to augment outcomes and develop an ongoing and sustainable support community with a subsample of physicians.

Eligibility Criteria

This trial is for English-speaking physicians over 18 years old who provide direct patient care and are not on unstable doses of psychotropic medication. It aims to help doctors dealing with job-related burnout.

Inclusion Criteria

Being a physician
Direct patient care

Exclusion Criteria

My psychotropic medication dose has been stable for less than 6 weeks.

Screening

Participants are screened for eligibility to participate in the trial

2-4 weeks

Early App-Delivered Mindfulness Training

Participants utilize the app designed to reduce burnout for 2 weeks

2 weeks
Virtual app usage

Follow-up

Participants are monitored for outcomes such as emotional exhaustion, anxiety, and depression

Data collection at baseline, 2 weeks, and 3 months

Online Virtual Training

A sub-group of participants receive additional virtual online training

A sub-group of participants will receive the virtual online training after three-month follow-up or directly after the app-based intervention.
