Study Summary

This trial will help researchers understand if inflammation in the small airways is linked to asthma, and if so, if it can be treated with inhaled corticosteroids.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for adults aged 18 to 50 with mild to moderate persistent asthma, not using steroids or other excluded medications, and non-smokers for at least a year. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are ineligible, as well as those unwilling to prevent pregnancy during the study.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study tests two types of inhaled corticosteroids on asthmatics: Flunisolide-CFC with large particles for central lung inflammation, and Flunisolide-HFA with small particles targeting both central and peripheral lung areas. The effectiveness will be measured through various lung function tests.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Potential side effects include irritation from inhalers, discomfort from lung function testing procedures like bronchoscopy and HRCT scans. There may also be risks associated with taking corticosteroids such as throat irritation or fungal infections.
