Study Summary

This trial is testing if the drug losartan is safe and effective for treating acute hamstring injuries in adults who participate in high levels of athletics or have a similar work load.

Who is the study for?
Adults over 18 with a recent grade II or III hamstring injury, who are active in sports like football, basketball, soccer, racquet sports, skiing or have physically demanding jobs. Participants must not need surgery for their injury, be non-smokers and not pregnant. They can't take certain blood pressure medicines or have conditions like hypertension.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
This trial is testing if Losartan (50mg daily) helps adults recover from serious hamstring strains better than a placebo. It's double-blind and randomized: neither doctors nor patients know who gets the real medicine. Patients get an MRI and functional tests before and after the treatment period to measure recovery.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Losartan may cause dizziness due to low blood pressure, allergic reactions in those sensitive to it, and could interact with other medications affecting blood pressure. The study excludes individuals likely at risk of severe side effects.
