Liver Perfusion for Liver Transplant
Study Summary
This trial is testing whether a new method of preserving livers (NMP) before transplantation is better than the current standard (cold storage). NMP has been used before with promising results. If NMP is found to be better than cold storage, it would improve donor pool and outcomes for high risk ECD liver transplants.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are there opportunities to join this medical research project currently?
"According to clinicaltrials.gov, this particular trial is not currently enrolling new patients; the original posting was on March 12th 2020 and it has since been updated last September 20 2022. Nevertheless, 52 other medical experiments are actively seeking participants at present time."
Does this medical experiment accept participants aged 70 or above?
"To meet the criteria for this medical experiment, applicants must be aged between 18 and 75. Additionally, there are 5 trials specifically tailored to those below 18 years old, as well 49 geared towards seniors over 65."
Are there any criteria that disqualify me from participating in this experiment?
"This clinical trial seeks 30 volunteers who are aged 18-75 and have undergone or will undergo orthoptic liver transplantation (OLT) for hepatocellular carcinoma. The ideal participants would be able to meet the following requirements: Milan Criteria, primary liver transplantation, age between 18-75 years at time of procedure, ability to follow study guidelines."
What outcome are researchers hoping to realize in this experiment?
"This research protocol, which will span an approximate month post-transplantation, seeks to measure the occurrence of primary non-function. Secondary objectives include graft survival (allograft loss due to re-transplant or death), peak aspartate aminotransferase in 7 days (assessed via clinical laboratory test) and peak bilirubin levels within a week after transplantation (also measured through lab work)."
