BRIDGE Trial Summary

This trial is testing two ways of delivering genetic testing and cancer screening recommendations to see which is more effective, especially for racial minorities and rural patients.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for individuals of Ashkenazi Jewish descent with a family history of certain cancers, including breast and ovarian cancer. It's open to those who speak English or Spanish and have relatives diagnosed with specific cancers at various ages. People already diagnosed with cancer (except non-melanoma skin cancer) or who've had genetic counseling or testing are excluded.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study aims to compare two ways of delivering genetic services: a patient-directed model versus an enhanced standard care model. It will look at how these models affect the rate of genetic testing uptake, adherence to cancer prevention/screening guidelines, and if there's any difference based on race/ethnicity or living in rural areas.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial involves genetic testing and not drug interventions, typical medication side effects are not applicable. However, participants may experience emotional or psychological impacts from learning about their genetic risks for cancer.
