HEX Trial Summary

This trial will test the feasibility and utility of a home-based exercise program for older adults with chronic mobility disability.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for veterans aged 65 or older who are enrolled in the Veterans Administration Medical Health Care System's Home-Based Primary Care Program and are homebound. It's not suitable for those with paraplegia, a life expectancy of less than 12 months, current engagement in physical therapy, or any medical conditions that make exercise unsafe as judged by the study team.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The trial is testing a Home Exercise Program (HEX) designed to improve physical function and quality of life for older adults with chronic mobility disabilities. The goal is to help them maintain independence and reduce healthcare needs without having to travel outside their homes.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this program involves physical exercise tailored for homebound older adults, potential side effects may include muscle soreness, fatigue, and an increased risk of falls if exercises are not performed safely. However, these risks will be minimized through careful planning and supervision.
