This trial will study the effects of diaphragm stimulation on gene expression and contractile properties in order to determine if it can help prevent diaphragm problems caused by mechanical ventilation and surgery.

- You have been diagnosed with chronic heart failure that is categorized as NYHA class IV.You had surgery on your diaphragm or pleura in the past.You have orthopedic conditions or may have conditions related to muscle or nerve problems.You have been diagnosed with a lung disease such as cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, or lung cancer (excluding transplant patients).If the doctors think it is not safe for you to undergo biopsy due to your medical condition, then you will not have the procedure.
- Group 1: Stimulation
- Group 2: Control
- No Placebo-Only Group - All patients enrolled in this study will receive some form of active treatment.
- Screening: It may take up to 3 Weeks to process to see if you qualify in this trial.
- Treatment: The duration you will receive the treatment varies.
- Follow Ups: You may be asked to continue sharing information regarding the trial for 6 Months after you stop receiving the treatment.
