Overweight/obesity and inadequate sleep are prevalent, and frequently co-occurring, health risks among children, both of which are associated with serious medical and psychosocial health complications including risk for cardiovascular disease. Although the investigator's data suggest that disrupted or shortened sleep may be causally associated with increased energy intake and weight gain in children, and with self-regulation and neural response to food cues in adults, understanding of mechanisms involved in the sleep/eating association is incomplete, thereby impeding development of targeted, optimally timed intervention strategies. The proposed mechanistic clinical trial aims to assess the effects of an experimental sleep manipulation on eating-related self-regulation and its neural substrates, and on real-world eating behavior, among children with overweight/obesity, which will help guide research efforts towards the refinement of prevention and intervention strategies targeting sleep and its eating-related correlates to curb weight gain throughout development.

The goal of this interventional study is to learn if a digital sleep extension intervention can improve sleep and mood in young urban adults with mood symptoms. The main questions it aims to answer are: Will this intervention improve sleep? Will this intervention improve mood? Does the effect of this intervention change based on environmental factors like noise and light pollution? Researchers will compare participants receiving the sleep intervention to participants receiving a "general healthy living" intervention to see if outcome are different across groups. Participants will: * receive 6 weeks of brief once weekly telephone coaching and read once weekly educational content * have their sleep monitored daily with a FitBit and Somnofy sleep device and during the 6-week intervention period * respond to questionnaires at the start of the intervention, halfway through the intervention, at the end of the intervention, and finally 4 weeks after completing the intervention

Sleep Extension for Concussion

Concussions are incredibly common, and often result in severe and long lasting symptoms, including, but not limited to, sleep deprivation and emotion dysregulation. This study aims to demonstrate the therapeutic benefits of sleep extension (napping) on emotion regulation in individuals after they sustain a concussion. Thus, sleep extension may be a cost-effective, low risk, supplemental treatment for those with emotion dysregulation following a concussion. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Is a nap an effective way to improve emotion regulation in individuals with a concussion? 2. Does a nap reduce the required executive resources necessary to regulate emotions in individuals with a concussion?

I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer three months ago, metastatic to my liver, and I have been receiving and responding well to chemotherapy. My blood work revealed that my tumor markers have gone from 2600 in the beginning to 173 as of now, even with the delay in treatment, they are not going up. CT Scans reveal they have been shrinking as well. However, chemo is seriously deteriorating my body. I have 4 more treatments to go in this 12 treatment cycle. I am just interested in learning about my other options, if any are available to me.

Many teenagers do not get enough sleep. Obesity and diabetes are increasing in teenagers as well. This study plans to learn more about sleep and insulin resistance (insulin not working) in teenagers, and how these things may be related depending on sleep. This is important to know so that the investigators understand how sleep may play a role in health conditions like extra weight gain (increased food intake and less physical activity) and diabetes. To answer this question, the investigators plan to enroll teenagers who get \<7 hours of sleep on school nights and measure changes in insulin sensitivity and dietary intake after a week of typical sleep (sleeping on their normal school schedule) and a week of longer sleep (spending 1+ hour longer in bed each night).

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn adjusting daily or nightly routines improves executive functioning in youth with ADHD. It will also learn about the acceptability of the intervention. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Does the intervention improve sleep for youth with ADHD? 2. Does the intervention improve areas of executive functioning for youth with ADHD? 3. Is this an acceptable intervention for youth with ADHD? Researchers will compare the two intervention conditions to see if their are impacts in executive functioning and sleep. Participants will: Complete cognitive testing, executive function tasks, questionnaires, and an interview at baseline and at one month Wear an actigraph watch for one month Bring a parent with them to three meetings Complete daily sleep diaries for one month

How much do clinical trials pay?
Each trial will compensate patients a different amount, but $50-100 for each visit is a fairly common range for Phase 2–4 trials (Phase 1 trials often pay substantially more). Further, most trials will cover the costs of a travel to-and-from the clinic.
How do clinical trials work?
After a researcher reviews your profile, they may choose to invite you in to a screening appointment, where they'll determine if you meet 100% of the eligibility requirements. If you do, you'll be sorted into one of the treatment groups, and receive your study drug. For some trials, there is a chance you'll receive a placebo. Across trials 30% of clinical trials have a placebo. Typically, you'll be required to check-in with the clinic every month or so. The average trial length is 12 months.
How do I participate in a study as a "healthy volunteer"?
Not all studies recruit healthy volunteers: usually, Phase 1 studies do. Participating as a healthy volunteer means you will go to a research facility several times over a few days or weeks to receive a dose of either the test treatment or a "placebo," which is a harmless substance that helps researchers compare results. You will have routine tests during these visits, and you'll be compensated for your time and travel, with the number of appointments and details varying by study.
What does the "phase" of a clinical trial mean?
The phase of a trial reveals what stage the drug is in to get approval for a specific condition. Phase 1 trials are the trials to collect safety data in humans. Phase 2 trials are those where the drug has some data showing safety in humans, but where further human data is needed on drug effectiveness. Phase 3 trials are in the final step before approval. The drug already has data showing both safety and effectiveness. As a general rule, Phase 3 trials are more promising than Phase 2, and Phase 2 trials are more promising than phase 1.
Do I need to be insured to participate in a medical study ?
Clinical trials are almost always free to participants, and so do not require insurance. The only exception here are trials focused on cancer, because only a small part of the typical treatment plan is actually experimental. For these cancer trials, participants typically need insurance to cover all the non-experimental components.
