Dime La VerDAD is an innovative social media capacity-building program that empowers promotores de salud to debunk vaccine misinformation through the use of personal narratives on social media. The core of the implementation strategy consists of augmenting training and self-efficacy for natural community champions, "promotores de salud" from the Hispanic community as trusted messengers to debunk vaccination misinformation. The study will leverage existing community relationships in Chicago and a first of its kind misinformation curriculum to debunk misinformation in communities served by participating promotores de salud. Dime La VerDAD (Verify, Debunk, and Disseminate) is an innovative social media capacity-building program based on theoretical frameworks related to health communication that empowers promotores de salud to debunk vaccine misinformation through the use of personal narratives on social media. This mixed methods study will use a rigorous stepped wedge design to 1) deliver a scalable program of science communicators using an adapted curriculum grounded in infodemiology, 2) evaluate how debunking misinformation is perceived on social media, and 3) discern how use of personal narratives to enhance science communication can lead to changes in opinions and behavior (vaccination rates) about COVID and influenza vaccines among Chicago's predominantly Hispanic communities.

Unfortunately, only 40% of US pediatric residency programs reported in a survey that vaccine safety and counseling training is provided to residents. The success of a residency curriculum focused on communication strategies with patients hesitant to receive the influenza vaccine has been demonstrated, finding a decreased rate of vaccination refusal in the post curricular period. In a recent 2020 study, it demonstrated the positive impact of an online vaccine curriculum on resident vaccine knowledge and self-reported confidence in counseling vaccine hesitant patients. Providers have the potential to impact a substantial pediatric patient population. The outpatient clinics where the residents included in this study care for patients had 9942 pediatric visits in 2021. Each visit is an opportunity to talk with families about vaccines, address concerns and to administer vaccines when needed. The hypothesize is that interactive educational interventions using the online training modules combined with the standardized patient encounters will increase resident vaccine knowledge and confidence, and enhance communication and counseling skills, thereby improving vaccination rates of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), Influenza, Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR) and Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Beaumont residency clinics.

The goal of this clinical trial is to test if virtual facilitation (e.g., video coaching) increases rural pharmacists' ability to implement COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy counseling when compared to a "standard" implementation approach (e.g., training and dissemination of implementation support tools) in rural pharmacies. The main question it aims to answer is if virtual facilitation improves fidelity to a newly developed vaccine hesitancy counseling intervention when compared to standard implementation. All participants will begin in the standard implementation condition, where they will complete a webinar on COVID-19 vaccinations and a 30-minute online training on vaccine hesitancy communication. After standard implementation, they will switch to the virtual facilitation condition where they will be assigned a virtual coach to help them with implementing the intervention. There will be six fidelity observations per each 8-week intervention period to determine whether pharmacists are implementing the intervention as intended. Researchers will compare fidelity between the standard and virtual facilitation conditions.

This research aims to identify communication strategies to improve the uptake of vaccines using an experimental design, focusing on the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, which is highly effective in preventing HPV-related cancers. However, low HPV vaccination rates among adults remain a significant public health challenge. Although randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have demonstrated that interventions can increase vaccine uptake in children, few RCTs have been conducted on adults. To address this gap, a multidisciplinary investigative team with expertise in communication, medicine, nursing, and behavior-change intervention research, and a history of extensive collaboration, will conduct a survey experiment on a national sample of over 3,689 adults to identify the most promising theory-based messages to strengthen HPV vaccine intentions.

Vaccinations are among the most successful and critical public health interventions. Despite the enormous protection that vaccines provide to public health, both delays and refusals of vaccines (vaccine hesitancy) are on the rise. Given that low vaccination rates present both an individual and community risk, it is critical that measures are taken to increase vaccination uptake in both rural and urban counties in New York. Wastewater surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 has been shown to be a leading indicator of pending surges. This study will examine whether a communications campaign based upon SARS-CoV-2 wastewater surveillance data can increase COVID-19 vaccine uptake. Forty counties have been selected for the communication campaign (20 in the treatment group and 20 in the control group). A difference-in-differences method will be applied to assess the impact of the communications campaign on vaccine uptake, which observes the outcomes between a control and treatment group over pre- and post-intervention time periods. The communications campaign will be evaluated using the change in vaccination status of residents of the treatment and control counties. Outcomes will also be compared between demographic groups including race and ethnicity because of differences in vaccination rates that have been already observed. We hypothesize that information regarding COVID-19 provided by wastewater surveillance that is geographically based and more local to communities will increase COVID-19 vaccine uptake. This theory of local information having an impact on health behavior is a novel application of the health belief model to increase vaccine uptake.

The goal of this trial is to compare the effect of a web-based educational video about pneumococcal vaccines and a reminder email to get vaccinated (intervention) with a reminder email alone (comparator) in adults aged 65 or older living in any Canadian province who reported not having received a pneumococcal vaccine. The main questions this trial aims to answer are: 1. does the educational intervention improve pneumococcal vaccine uptake, 2. does the educational intervention improve willingness to be vaccinated, 3. does the educational intervention improve knowledge of pneumococcal vaccination, 4. and does the educational intervention improve attitudes towards pneumococcal vaccines/vaccination? This study is a 24-30 month behavioral intervention study to assess the impact of enrolling individuals a clinical pharmacist run telehealth education focused on wellness and vaccination. Individuals will be randomized to either a wellness only model focusing on nutrition, diabetes and hypertension or a wellness model with a vaccination education component. All participants will complete individual and group based interventions. Individuals will be recruited from industries with high risk for COVID-19 and other respiratory illness infection, such as health workers, teachers aides and the food industry. We are recruiting individuals who identify as African-American, Hispanic, come from a semi-rural/rural community or have additional social determinants of health that indicate social vulnerability. The primary outcome is COVID-19 vaccine completion. The secondary outcome is influenza vaccine completion.

This study is significant as it targets a population that has exceptionally high rates of morbidity and mortality due to COVID-19, influenza, pneumococcal pneumonia and shingles; and who demonstrate significant mistrust towards the vaccines. It is innovative in that investigators will harness the research team's extensive experience in developing multi-level and tailored interventions working with community partners to increase adult vaccine uptake among Latinos. Through this project the investigators will develop the experience and infrastructure for a scalable community-academic model that can be deployed and adapted to other communities (especially those with prevalent vaccine resistance) and other emerging public health threats. Throughout the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, rates of COVID-19 have been persistently high in San Diego County's central and southern communities near the United States/Mexico border. These regions predominantly house Latino residents, the ethnic minority community most impacted by COVID-19 in San Diego. In the Phase I project, University of California, San Diego (UCSD) partnered with San Ysidro Health (SYH) and the Global Action Research Center, to co-create and demonstrate the impact of a COVID-19 testing program in San Ysidro, one of the most impacted areas from COVID-19 in San Diego County. To date, the project tested \>10,000 community members (92% Latino) and received requests to scale-out the testing program to additional primary care clinic sites. In this Phase III project, Community-engaged Optimization of COVID-19 Rapid Evaluation And TEsting Experiences (CO-CREATE-Ex) will extend work with the Phase I community and clinical partners to refine, specify, implement, and evaluate an implementation strategy bundle that optimizes COVID-19 testing, expanding beyond current polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing to FDA-authorized COVID-19 rapid antigen testing.

What does the "phase" of a clinical trial mean?

The phase of a trial reveals what stage the drug is in to get approval for a specific condition. Phase 1 trials are the trials to collect safety data in humans. Phase 2 trials are those where the drug has some data showing safety in humans, but where further human data is needed on drug effectiveness. Phase 3 trials are in the final step before approval. The drug already has data showing both safety and effectiveness. As a general rule, Phase 3 trials are more promising than Phase 2, and Phase 2 trials are more promising than phase 1.

Do I need to be insured to participate in a Vaccine Hesitancy medical study?
