The goal of this clinical study is to evaluate safety of Xenon gas inhalation in healthy volunteers. This first phase safety clinical study is part of evaluation of the xenon gas inhalation as a therapy for neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease. The investigators will administer xenon gas in low concentration to people via anesthetic machine, observe participants for sedation and any unexpected side effects, collect blood at each visit and measure the vital signs. There are four treatment groups in the study, which correspond with the duration of xenon gas treatment. Individual participation will last approximately 14 days over five visits: screening visit accompanied by the electrocardiogram, blood, and urine test; treatment visit for xenon gas inhalation treatment; and three follow up visits.

The goal of this study is to develop and validate an approach for accurate targeting and stimulation of brain networks using transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) using information from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data. This study requires two visits from each participant. In the first visit, the participant will be scanned by MRI scanners to collect data from the brain. Next, the data will be analyzed by the researcher to model the connections between different regions of the brain to determine the stimulation areas related to the so-called frontoparietal network. In the second visit, the participants will take four TMS sessions with different types of stimulations applied to the computed targets and complete a computer-based task named multi-source interference task. Electroencephalogram (EEG) data will be collected during the TMS stimulations and tasks. The main hypothesis is that applying TMS stimulations to the brain targets reduces the response time and response error in the tasks.

The goal of this study is to find out if a tool called an external cueing device (ECD) can help young swimmers improve their shoulder function. An ECD is a tool that limits arm movement and gives the swimmer a target to focus on while doing exercises. The main questions this study will answer are: * Does using an ECD during certain exercises improve muscle strength? * Does using an ECD while exercising help with shoulder stability? Participants will: * Test their shoulder muscle strength and stability at the beginning of the study. * Complete 8 exercises as part of their regular dry-land training program for 6 weeks. * Repeat the same tests after 3 weeks and again at the end of the study.

The glycemic index (GI) ranks carbohydrate-containing foods based on their effect on postprandial blood glucose levels. Foods or food products with lower GI values (55 or less) are absorbed more slowly, gradually increasing blood glucose and insulin levels. Fruits are believed to have a lower GI, making them potentially beneficial for individuals seeking to manage blood sugar levels. Previous studies from our and other groups suggest that Saskatoon berry (SB) is a potential functional food for glucose management. The glycemic index (GI) of dried SB powder and whole fruit remains undetermined, limiting our ability to make precise dietary recommendations. This study aims to evaluate the GI in both whole fruit and powder forms of SB. The determination of GI on SB products allows us to provide evidence-based guidance for healthcare providers when recommending SB as a functional food for glucose control.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and PK/PD of LY3962681 in healthy volunteers and patients with Parkinson's disease. The study will be comprised of two parts, the Single Ascending Dose (SAD) study and the Multiple Ascending Doses (MAD) study. During the SAD portion of the study, healthy volunteers will receive a single dose of LY3962681 or placebo (artificial cerebrospinal fluid (aCSF), no active drug) given into the spinal fluid. During the MAD portion of the study, patients with Parkinson's disease will receive two doses of either LY3962681 or placebo (aCSF) administered into the spinal fluid. * The treatment period in the SAD study will be 1 day. The study aims to test if a new medicine called etavopivat potentially affects other medicines in healthy participants. The purpose of the study is to investigate whether the use of etavopivat affects the breakdown and metabolism of commonly used medicines in the body. During the study, participants will receive etavopivat and five different medicines that are already approved and available on the market, and which can be prescribed by doctors. Background: Researchers use mixed meal tolerance tests (MMTTs) to look at how people s bodies respond to eating a meal. However, researchers do not agree on how to decide the number of calories to give in each meal. Some use fixed meals, which are the same size for everyone, and some use adjusted meals, based on the size of the person s body. Researchers want to know which MMTT is best to use for future research. Objective: To learn how fixed vs adjusted meals affect blood glucose levels in healthy people. Eligibility: Healthy people aged 18 years or older. Design: Participants will have 3 or 4 clinic visits of up to 8 hours in 8 weeks. Participants will have baseline tests: Their height, weight, and waist size will be measured. They will have an oral glucose tolerance test: A needle attached to a tube (IV) will be inserted into a vein in the arm. They will have a sugary drink. Blood samples will be taken from the tube at intervals up to 3 hours after the drink. They will have a body scan. Participants will have 2 MMTT visits. One will include a fixed meal and one will include an adjusted meal. They will have tests at both visits: Resting metabolic rate: A clear hood will be placed over the participant s head while they rest for 20 minutes. This will measure the oxygen they breathe in and out. MMTT. Participants will have 5 minutes to drink a liquid meal. Blood samples will be taken at intervals for the next 4 hours....

One hundred twenty healthy participants, ages 21 to 70, who experience moderate-to-lower-than-average mental well-being will be evenly randomized into four different study arms, using a 2x2 factorial design. Depending on the study arm, participants will either receive an inactive placebo or up to 25mg psilocybin (oral dose), in one of two set and setting conditions; drug administration contexts that are predicted to modulate drug effects. The purpose of this study is to evaluate any interaction effects between an oral dose of psilocybin and the surrounding context (set and setting).

Each trial will compensate patients a different amount, but $50-100 for each visit is a fairly common range for Phase 2–4 trials (Phase 1 trials often pay substantially more). Further, most trials will cover the costs of a travel to-and-from the clinic.

How do Healthy Volunteers clinical trials work?

After a researcher reviews your profile, they may choose to invite you in to a screening appointment, where they'll determine if you meet 100% of the eligibility requirements. If you do, you'll be sorted into one of the treatment groups, and receive your study drug. For some trials, there is a chance you'll receive a placebo. Across Healthy Volunteers trials 30% of clinical trials have a placebo. Typically, you'll be required to check-in with the clinic every month or so. The average trial length for Healthy Volunteers is 12 months.

How do I participate in a study as a "healthy volunteer"?

Not all studies recruit healthy volunteers: usually, Phase 1 studies do. Participating as a healthy volunteer means you will go to a research facility several times over a few days or weeks to receive a dose of either the test treatment or a "placebo," which is a harmless substance that helps researchers compare results. You will have routine tests during these visits, and you'll be compensated for your time and travel, with the number of appointments and details varying by study.

What does the "phase" of a clinical trial mean?

The phase of a trial reveals what stage the drug is in to get approval for a specific condition. Phase 1 trials are the trials to collect safety data in humans. Phase 2 trials are those where the drug has some data showing safety in humans, but where further human data is needed on drug effectiveness. Phase 3 trials are in the final step before approval. The drug already has data showing both safety and effectiveness. As a general rule, Phase 3 trials are more promising than Phase 2, and Phase 2 trials are more promising than phase 1.

Do I need to be insured to participate in a Healthy Volunteers medical study?

Clinical trials are almost always free to participants, and so do not require insurance. The only exception here are trials focused on cancer, because only a small part of the typical treatment plan is actually experimental. For these cancer trials, participants typically need insurance to cover all the non-experimental components.
