Aims are to (1) evaluate attentional bias to e-cigarette cues between the intervention and control groups at post-intervention as compared to the pre-intervention; and (2) test the feasibility and efficacy of the intervention at post-intervention. Clinical practice guidelines for smoking cessation emphasize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help patients develop coping strategies for urges. Mindfulness or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) offer a different approach, which teaches smokers psychological flexibility through accepting negative experiences. While there is evidence for the efficacy of both CBT and Mindfulness/ACT smoking cessation interventions, it is unclear if these approaches are efficacious when implemented in real-time and with young adults. The overall goal of this proposal is to evaluate the efficacy of CBT and Mindfulness/ACT messages for young adults targeted at specific high-risk situations for smoking.

This three-group randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial (N=180) will evaluate the impact of combination zonisamide and bupropion on the process of switching from combustible cigarettes (CCs) to an e-cigarette. There will be a data collection period of at least five days to obtain baseline information on the use of combustible cigarettes. All participants enrolled in the study will receive a JUUL e-cigarette at Visit 2 for ad libitum use. After the first week of e-cigarette use (at Visit 3), participants will be given bupropion (150 mg each morning for days 1-3, then 300 mg daily) with either zonisamide (100 mg daily) or placebo (group 1 and group 2 respectively), or placebo for both medications (group 3) in addition to continued use of the e-cigarette. At each visit, participants will receive enough study drugs (or placebos) and e-cigarettes to last until their next study visit. The combination of zonisamide and bupropion use will continue until Visit 6 (7 weeks of treatment), and e-cigarette use will continue until the end of treatment (Visit 7).

E-cigarettes for Tobacco Use

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if adults 50 years and older who currently smoke tobacco and are in treatment for opioid use disorder will switch to using e-cigarettes instead of continued smoking. Participants will not have a plan to quit smoking and will not be actively trying to quit smoking at the start of the trial. The main questions the study aims to answer are: * Are e-cigarettes a feasible and acceptable harm-reduction tool among older adults who currently smoke tobacco and don\'t have a plan to quit? * Will switching to e-cigarettes and reducing tobacco use be more likely among patients given access to e-cigarettes compared to individuals who are exposed to a standard brief intervention for smoking cessation (control)? * Does the accuracy of nicotine/tobacco knowledge change after participants are exposed to education on the harms of nicotine relative to no education? Participants will complete a baseline session (BL) and follow-up visits at weeks 2, 6, and 8, each lasting 30-90 minutes, for a total of approximately 3-4 hours of participation in the study. Each session will include computerized assessments of tobacco and other substance use, health status, mood, and functioning. Patients will be randomly assigned at baseline (if meeting eligibility criteria) to receive an e-cigarette product (name of product: NJOY Ace) or brief advice to quit smoking (in alignment with recommendations by the American Society of Addiction Medicine).

Varenicline for Smoking

In order to reduce the prevalence of cigarette smoking among Veterans, it is vital that the investigators offer effective tobacco treatment to all Veterans who smoke, including those not ready to make a quit attempt. Smoking treatments currently available to Veterans who are not ready to quit are only weakly effective. This project will generate new knowledge about the effectiveness of a promising varenicline-based intervention designed to increase quit attempts and long-term abstinence in Veterans who are initially not ready to quit. This project has great potential to engage Veterans not ready to quit smoking in treatment that increases quit attempts and quitting success, thereby reducing morbidity and mortality caused by smoking in Veterans.

The purpose of this study is to better understand tobacco outcomes using a commonly prescribed stop smoking medication (varenicline) and financial incentives for adults who also use cannabis. Varenicline is not FDA approved for e-cigarette cessation, but is FDA approved for cigarette cessation. Investigators are also interested in how cannabis/marijuana and tobacco interact during a tobacco quit attempt. All participants will receive e-cigarette cessation treatment for 12 weeks. To qualify, participants must be between the ages of 18-40 and use both e-cigarettes and cannabis. Participants do not need to be interested in quitting cannabis to qualify. This study is being conducted at three sites: the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC, Behavioral Health Services in Pickens, SC, and MUSC Lancaster in Lancaster, SC.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate how certain childhood experiences influences brain function and responses to nicotine exposure in a group of nonsmoking young adults. The investigators assess responses to nicotine exposure by giving participants a small amount of nicotine or placebo, and then asking them to answer questionnaires. The investigational drugs used in this study are a nicotine nasal spray (i.e., Nicotrol) and/or a nasal spray placebo (made of common kitchen ingredients, including a very tiny amount of pepper extract also called capsaicin). The investigators assess brain function through function magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), which is a noninvasive procedure that uses a magnetic field to take pictures of your brain while you are performing certain tasks. This study will help us to learn more about why some childhood experiences (adverse childhood experiences, or ACEs) contribute to increased risk for smoking and other substance use.

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn about the role of flavored on!® nicotine pouch products (the research products), an oral tobacco-leaf-free product, in the replacement of cigarettes with the use of the research products among adults who smoke cigarettes. The main question it aims to answer is whether flavored (vs. non-flavored) research products generate greater reduction of cigarette smoking among adults who smoke cigarettes. Participants will be provided with research products to use for 6 weeks. Researchers will compare the reduction in cigarette smoking between participants with access to a complete flavor profile of research products and participants with access to only the Original (non-flavored) variety of research product to see if reduction in cigarette smoking is greater among those with access to flavored research products.

The purpose of this research study is to see if offering adult primary care patients who smoke combustible cigarettes more frequent outreach, more choices about how they receive that outreach, and more smoking treatment options will increase the use of smoking treatments and help more people quit smoking, when compared against a standard outreach approach. Only patients at participating adult primary care clinics will be eligible for the study. Five clinic sites will be randomized to an enhanced outreach approach, while another 5 will be randomly assigned to standard smoking treatment outreach. This clinical trial evaluates the impact of a culturally tailored educational video on the perceptions of lung cancer and lung cancer screening in vulnerable communities. Lung cancer is the most common cancer type. African-American communities have a higher rate than any other racial or ethnic group in the United States and accounts for the highest number of deaths among African-Americans. Lung cancer is in the top three causes of cancer death among Asian men and women. Research has shown that low-income, minority and immigrant individuals may be under resourced to make decisions about prevention programs and early detection measures for lung cancer. A culturally tailored educational video may be an effective method to help people learn about lung cancer, susceptibility toward lung cancer and lung cancer screening. This may increase lung cancer screening in vulnerable communities.

Smokers partnered with other smokers (i.e., dual-smoker couples) represent \~2/3 of all smokers. Dual-smoker couples (DSCs) are less likely to try to quit smoking and more likely to relapse during a quit attempt, reducing overall smoking cessation rates and representing a high-risk clinical population. Despite their high prevalence and risk for persistent smoking, however, there are limited data on smoking cessation interventions among DSCs. Building on previous research that suggests a) financial incentive treatments (FITs) are effective at increasing quit rates and b) dyadic adaptations of FITs are feasible for implementation in DSCs, the proposed study will systematically two versions of FITs to enhance smoking cessation among DSCs. In addition to determining the efficacy of these dyadic FITs for smoking abstinence in DSCs, the investigators will consider the cost and cost effectiveness of each adaptation as well as mechanisms of change to inform future implementation research. The investigators will additionally consider secondary outcomes including abstinence during treatment and long-term abstinence maintenance after end of treatment. The investigators will address these questions in a three-group randomized controlled trial (RCT). In all conditions, individuals who have smoking partners (i.e., targets) will receive usual care (combination fast and slow acting Nicotine Replacement Therapy + quitting resources). In two conditions, participants will receive incentives for abstinence at three time points (1, 3, and 6 months post-baseline). In the SFIT condition, only the target in a couple will be offered incentives; in the DFIT condition, both target and partner will be offered incentives. Primary efficacy outcome is % point-prevalence abstinence at 6 months post-baseline among targets. Secondary outcomes are point-prevalence abstinence at 1 and 3 months during the treatment and 6 months post-treatment (12-months post-baseline), as well as partner outcomes. The investigators will evaluate possible mechanisms of change including partner support and individual and partner motivation to quit as well as evaluate the cost and relative cost of each abstainer within and across condition. These data on the efficacy, mechanisms, and costs of FITs for DSCs will inform population level implementation and promote successful quitting in this treatment refractory population.

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn how a messaging campaign about reduced nicotine cigarettes and policy, combined with the use of very low nicotine cigarettes (VLNCs), affects smoking behavior and attitudes among adult smokers. The study also aims to assess the efficacy of the messages in different populations, including smokers with past-month serious psychological distress (SPD), low socioeconomic status (SES), and those in neither category. The primary hypothesis is: exposure to messages in combination with VLNC use will lead to less cigarettes use compared to VLNCs without messages. Researchers will compare: The effects of receiving VLNCs with messages (treatment group) to receiving VLNCs without messages (control group). Participants will: Complete a baseline survey and be randomly assigned to one of two groups: treatment (VLNCs + messages) or control (VLNCs only). Attend weekly study visits for surveys, breath samples, and receive supply of VLNCs , either with or without the messaging campaign. Complete brief daily surveys through text messages.

This randomized controlled trial aims to examine the effects of high-impact e-cigarette advertisement features among young adults of various tobacco-use statuses. Previous research on examining the effects of e-cigarette advertisement features found that flavor-related features (e.g., flavor-associated product color, name and image, flavor sensation descriptor, and flavor choice claim) may have the largest impact on shaping young adults' perceptions and use intentions of e-cigarettes. No research so far has solely focused on examining the effects of those high-impact flavor-related advertisement features. The present study assessed the effects of high-impact flavor-related advertisement features, including flavor descriptor name, e-cigarette product color (which indicates flavors), flavor-related image, flavor sensation descriptor, and flavor choice claim on perceptions and behavioral intentions among a large online sample of young adults aged 18-30 who either smoke cigarettes or do not use tobacco products. The study is a six-group RCT with parallel assignments that will be delivered through an online self-administered questionnaire consisting of one session. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of six trial arms: 1) dark gray product with tobacco flavor name, 2) dark gray product with strawberry flavor name, 3) colorful (strawberry color) product with strawberry flavor name, 4) colorful (strawberry color) product with strawberry flavor name and strawberry image, 5) colorful (strawberry color) product with strawberry flavor name, strawberry image, strawberry flavor sensation descriptor, and 6) colorful (strawberry color) product with strawberry flavor name, strawberry image, strawberry flavor sensation descriptor, and flavor choice claim. The overall purpose of this pilot study is to assess the feasibility and acceptability of an in-person faith-based intervention to help people stop tobacco use. The study will address use of different types of tobacco products, such as smoking combustible cigarettes, cigarillos and little filtered cigars, and using/vaping electronic nicotine delivery systems (vape pens, e-cigs, and JUUL). The intervention consists of 12 weekly meetings in which participants will go through BREATHE Free, a study guide curriculum designed to teach character strengths and promote resilience. This pilot research will provide information and practical lessons on how to improve Breathe Free implementation, increase engagement of the local people, and maximize their benefit. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Do participants find BREATHE Free curriculum acceptable, engaging and helpful to stop tobacco use? * Do participants who complete BREATHE Free curriculum smoke fewer cigarettes per day? Researchers will assign participants to either BREATHE Free curriculum or usual care. Participants will: * Be taught BREATHE Free curriculum or be given information and referral to tobacco quit line * BREATHE Free group will attend 12 group meetings held on the university campus * All participants will answer interview questions related to tobacco use, character strengths and resilience * Expired Carbon Monoxide (CO) will be assessed in all participants.

The purpose of this an open-label, randomized controlled trial study is to compare the effectiveness of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes/e-cigs) versus telehealth motivational counseling with combination nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) + telehealth counseling on combustible cigarettes smoking reduction among persons with opioid use disorder (OUD) in methadone and buprenorphine treatment programs (opioid use disorder treatment programs (OUDTP)). OUDTP patients are a population with exceptionally high combustible cigarettes smoking burden and yet limited success in achieving meaningful clinical outcomes in tobacco treatment. This study evaluates whether non-cigarette tobacco products (e-cigarettes) can help smokers quit smoking as compared to traditional quit methods (nicotine replacement therapy or varenicline/Chantix). Participants in this study will be randomly assigned to one of two groups, then will have a choice between the offered products of that group. Participants in the e-cigarette group will have a choice of e-cigarette brand and flavor. Participants in the medication group will have choice between nicotine replacement therapy (patches and lozenges) or varenicline, also known as Chantix. Participation will last 6 months and will include weekly phone calls for the initial 7-weeks plus a 11-week phone call and a 6-month follow-up visit. Adaptive Treatment for Smoking Relapse

This is a research study to find out if treatment decision making can be improved for smokers who find it difficult to quit with medications. Everyone who participates in this study will receive free product, either nicotine replacement therapies (patches and lozenges), varenicline, or a harm reduction product (e-cigarette) for a full 12 weeks. Most participants will receive some combination of these treatments, depending on individual response to each. All visits and study assessments will be entirely remote. All treatments will be provided free of charge for the first 12 weeks. After that, the study team will contact the participants 6 months after the first study phone call to complete another survey. The study lasts six months and will involve 8 surveys.
