There is no clear diagnostic approach for cephalosporin-allergic patients, and guidance for the use of other antibiotics in allergic patients is based on side chain chemical similarity and limited skin testing evidence. This project includes a clinical trial and mechanistic studies to optimize the approach to cephalosporin allergy and advance future diagnostics.

The goal of this study is to assess the efficacy of inhaled salbutamol to treat abdominal pain during food allergic reactions. Patients experiencing abominal pain as a result of a food allergic reaction during a food challenge in the allergy clinic will be invited to participate to the study. They will receive either 8 puffs of salbutamol (asthma inhaler) or 8 puffs of a placebo inhaler. The abdominal pain will then be followed using a numeric scale to see if patients receiving the medication experienced a faster improvement compared to those receiving the placebo.

This is a phase II randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial that aims at evaluating the safety and tolerability of oral encapsulated fecal microbial transplantation therapy (MTT) in peanut allergic patients. In this research the investigators would like to learn more about ways to treat peanut allergies. The primary objective is to evaluate whether MTT with antibiotic pretreatment can increase the threshold of peanut reactivity during a double-blind placebo-controlled food challenge from \<=100 mg peanut protein to 300 mg after 28 days of MTT /placebo therapy and 4 months post therapy initiation.

KP001 for Safety Evaluation

The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics (PK) of several KP001 dose regimens to identify a treatment regimen with a PK profile that safely meets or exceeds the PK profile of existing injected epinephrine products. The main questions it aims to answer are: * To evaluate any carryover effect with a 7-day washout of different dose regimens of KP001 in healthy adult volunteers. * To evaluate the safety, tolerability and PK of different dose regimens of KP001 in healthy adult volunteers. * To explore the safety, tolerability and PK of one KP001 dose regimen without inhalation (breath holding). Participants will: * Be admitted to clinical research unit (Day -1) and receive treatment the following day (Day 1) and then will be discharged * Visit the clinic on Days 2 \& 3 post dose for required assessments * Visit the clinic 6 days post their last dose for dosing and repeated until 5 dosing visits have been completed * Visit the clinic for a safety follow-up visit approximately 1 week from last dose administered

Each trial will compensate patients a different amount, but $50-100 for each visit is a fairly common range for Phase 2–4 trials (Phase 1 trials often pay substantially more). Further, most trials will cover the costs of a travel to-and-from the clinic.

How do Anaphylaxis clinical trials work?

What does the "phase" of a clinical trial mean?

The phase of a trial reveals what stage the drug is in to get approval for a specific condition. Phase 1 trials are the trials to collect safety data in humans. Phase 2 trials are those where the drug has some data showing safety in humans, but where further human data is needed on drug effectiveness. Phase 3 trials are in the final step before approval. The drug already has data showing both safety and effectiveness. As a general rule, Phase 3 trials are more promising than Phase 2, and Phase 2 trials are more promising than phase 1.

Do I need to be insured to participate in a Anaphylaxis medical study?
