Mental Health App for Wellbeing
What You Need to Know Before You Apply
What is the purpose of this trial?
This trial explores whether a mental health app can boost well-being among college students at Penn State Behrend. Participants will split into two groups: one will use the Landing Place mental health app regularly for four weeks, while the other will not use it, serving as a comparison. The goal is to determine if the app improves wellness and if students find it easy to use. This trial suits Penn State Behrend students over 18 who have an iPhone and are not currently in therapy. As an unphased trial, this study offers students the chance to contribute to innovative mental health solutions tailored for their community.
What prior data suggests that the Landing Place mental health app is safe for college students?
Research shows that mental health apps like Landing Place are generally safe and well-received by users. Studies on similar apps indicate they often improve well-being without major safety issues. Users typically find these apps easy to use and not harmful.
Although specific studies on the Landing Place app are limited, research on mental health apps overall suggests they are safe, with no major problems reported. The app supports mental wellness through activities like mindfulness and mood tracking, aiming to improve well-being.
For those considering a trial with the Landing Place app, research generally finds these types of apps to be safe.12345Why are researchers excited about this trial?
Researchers are excited about the Landing Place mental health app because it offers a comprehensive and engaging approach to improving mental wellbeing. Unlike traditional therapies that might require in-person sessions or medications, this app integrates several activities like cognitive exercises, mindfulness practices, and mood tracking, all accessible from a smartphone. It empowers users to manage their mental health actively and independently, which is a fresh take compared to existing options. By leveraging technology, the app aims to provide immediate support and personalized strategies, making mental health care more accessible and adaptable to everyday life.
What evidence suggests that the Landing Place mental health app is effective for increasing well-being in college students?
Research shows that mental health apps can improve well-being. For example, one study found that the Feel Stress Free app significantly reduced symptoms of depression. Another app, eQuoo, also helped lower anxiety and depression levels for users. These findings suggest that using a mental health app like Landing Place, which participants in this trial may use, could benefit college students' wellness. While early results from other apps are promising, researchers are still studying the specific effects of Landing Place in this trial.26789
