Registry for Older Patients with Cancer
What You Need to Know Before You Apply
What is the purpose of this trial?
This trial aims to gather information from older patients who have cancer or are being evaluated for it. The goal is to build a registry that may improve cancer research and treatment for older adults in the future. Participants must have an appointment at the North Carolina Cancer Hospital and complete a Geriatric Assessment, a survey about their health. Those who can read and speak English are eligible to join. The study focuses on understanding the experiences and health conditions of older individuals facing cancer. As an unphased study, this trial offers participants the opportunity to contribute to valuable research that could enhance cancer care for older adults.
Will I have to stop taking my current medications?
The trial information does not specify whether you need to stop taking your current medications.
Why are researchers excited about this trial?
Researchers are excited about this trial because it focuses on gathering detailed information about older patients with cancer, which is often an underrepresented group in clinical studies. Unlike traditional treatments that focus on medication or therapies, this study aims to understand the unique needs and challenges faced by older adults with cancer. By collecting comprehensive data, researchers hope to develop more personalized treatment approaches and improve the quality of care for this population, potentially leading to better outcomes and quality of life.
