SMART PICU Trial Summary

This trial will use a Smart Checklist to help reduce risk of bad outcomes in 6 pediatric ICUs.

Who is the study for?
This trial is for all patients who are undergoing endotracheal intubation in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) at participating hospitals. It does not include those having an endotracheal tube exchange, as that's considered a different procedure.Check my eligibility
What is being tested?
The study is testing a digital 'Smart Checklist' designed to help healthcare teams during intubations in the PICU. The goal is to see if this checklist can reduce complications by using tailored prompts from electronic health records.See study design
What are the potential side effects?
Since this trial involves implementing a checklist rather than a medical treatment, there aren't direct side effects like with drugs or surgeries. However, any changes in procedures could potentially affect patient care outcomes.
