What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This trial tests an app called OnTrackCF, designed to help adults with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) manage their condition more effectively. The main goal is to determine if users find the app easy to use and helpful in managing their treatment. Participants will use the app for a few weeks and share their experiences. The trial is open to adults with CF who take specific medication twice a day and have a smartphone or tablet with internet access. As an unphased trial, this study allows participants to contribute to innovative solutions for managing CF.

Do I need to stop my current medications for the trial?

The trial does not specify if you need to stop your current medications. However, since participants must be on a CFTR modulator therapy, it seems you will continue taking that medication.

What prior data suggests that OnTrackCF is safe for adults with Cystic Fibrosis?

A previous study tested OnTrackCF to assess its impact on people with Cystic Fibrosis. The main goal was to evaluate the app's usability and helpfulness. No serious side effects were reported, suggesting it is safe. As a digital tool rather than a drug or medical device, OnTrackCF is less likely to cause physical harm. Participants primarily use the app to monitor their symptoms and treatment. Overall, research has shown that users generally have a positive experience with OnTrackCF.12345

Why are researchers excited about this trial?

Unlike traditional treatments for cystic fibrosis that often involve medications and physical therapies to manage symptoms, OnTrackCF is a digital health intervention delivered through an app. This app aims to empower patients by helping them track their health metrics and manage their condition more effectively. Researchers are excited about OnTrackCF because it introduces a new, tech-driven approach that could enhance patient engagement and provide personalized insights, potentially improving quality of life for those with cystic fibrosis.

What evidence suggests that OnTrackCF is effective for Cystic Fibrosis?

Research shows that OnTrackCF is a promising tool for helping adults manage cystic fibrosis (CF). The app allows users to track their symptoms and daily care, which can help tailor their treatment. Studies have found that digital health tools like OnTrackCF can boost patient involvement and simplify CF management. By gathering information over time, these tools could lead to better health outcomes for people with CF. Early findings suggest that users find the app easy to use and helpful in maintaining their care routines. Although OnTrackCF is still under evaluation in this trial, initial data supports its potential effectiveness in managing CF.24678
