Observational Study for Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis
(WIND-PSC Trial)
What You Need to Know Before You Apply
What is the purpose of this trial?
This trial aims to gather real-world data from adults with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), a liver disease affecting bile ducts. The collected information will help design and support future clinical trials for PSC treatments. Eligible participants are adults with confirmed large duct PSC and should not have other significant liver diseases, such as hepatitis or alcoholic hepatitis. Those with PSC who experience frequent symptoms or complications might be a good fit for this study. As an unphased trial, this study offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to the foundational understanding of PSC and influence future treatment strategies.
Why are researchers excited about this trial?
Unlike the standard of care for primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), which often involves managing symptoms with medications like ursodeoxycholic acid or endoscopic procedures, this trial is focused on understanding the disease progression across a global cohort without testing a specific new treatment. Researchers are excited about this trial because it provides a comprehensive, real-world view of how PSC affects patients worldwide. By gathering data on diverse patient experiences and outcomes, the study aims to uncover insights that could lead to better-targeted future treatments and improve overall patient care standards for PSC.
