What is the purpose of this trial?

This study aims to determine the effects of 2 spiritual care interventions. Spiritual wellness and healthcare service utilization will be measured from a sample of advanced cancer patients recruited from outpatient settings.

This trial is for advanced cancer patients who are part of a religious faith community and can speak English fluently. It's not specified who cannot join, but typically those with conditions that could interfere with the study or its results might be excluded.

Inclusion Criteria

I have been diagnosed with advanced cancer.
I am a member of a religious community.
I am fluent in English.

Timeline for a Trial Participant

Screening

Participants are screened for eligibility to participate in the trial

2-4 weeks

Treatment

Participants receive one of the spiritual care interventions or the control intervention

2 months

Follow-up

Participants are monitored for hospice enrollments, ICU admissions, and spiritual wellness

up to 12 months
