Trial Summary

What is the purpose of this trial?

This trial tests SENSE Theatre®, a program that uses acting to help adults with autism improve their social skills. It focuses on practicing face recognition and social interactions through repeated role-playing activities. The goal is to see if these improvements last. SENSE Theatre® is a novel intervention that combines trained peers to facilitate performance-based theatrical treatment in a supportive, community-based environment.

Will I have to stop taking my current medications?

The trial information does not specify whether you need to stop taking your current medications. It would be best to discuss this with the trial coordinators or your doctor.

What data supports the effectiveness of the treatment SENSE Theatre for autism?

Research shows that SENSE Theatre, a theater-based program, helps children with autism improve their social skills and communication. Studies found that after participating in SENSE Theatre, children engaged more in group play, interacted better with peers, and reported feeling less anxious.12345

How is the SENSE Theatre treatment unique for autism?

SENSE Theatre is unique because it uses a peer-mediated, theater-based approach to improve social skills in children with autism, focusing on role-playing and performance with trained peers in a supportive environment. This method enhances social communication, face memory, and reduces anxiety, which differs from traditional interventions that may not incorporate theatrical elements or peer interaction.13456
