What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This trial aims to determine the prevalence of sleep problems among individuals with lung cancer that has metastasized. Participants will share their medical records and complete a questionnaire about their sleep habits. It suits those diagnosed with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer who are undergoing their first, second, or third treatments or are in maintenance therapy.

As an unphased study, this trial allows participants to contribute to a better understanding of sleep issues in metastatic lung cancer, potentially enhancing future care.

Do I need to stop my current medications for the trial?

The trial does not specify if you need to stop your current medications, but it excludes those who regularly use psychotropic medications (drugs affecting mood or behavior) other than sleep aids. It's best to discuss your specific medications with the trial team.

Why are researchers excited about this trial?

Researchers are excited about this trial because it aims to better understand the relationship between insomnia and metastatic lung cancer by reviewing patient medical charts and using detailed questionnaires. Unlike current treatments for insomnia that rely on medications like benzodiazepines or cognitive behavioral therapy, this trial focuses on gathering insights into how insomnia specifically affects patients with metastatic lung cancer. By identifying patterns and correlations, the study could pave the way for more personalized and effective management of insomnia for these patients, potentially leading to new therapeutic approaches tailored to their unique needs.
