What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

To test adaptive intensive behavioral therapy strategies comprising dietary patterns with varying amounts of protein and including supplemental protein or resistance exercise training for promoting weight loss and attenuating lean mass loss in adults aged 50-75 with obesity.

Inclusion Criteria

I am between 50 and 75 years old.

Timeline for a Trial Participant

Screening

Participants are screened for eligibility to participate in the trial

Baseline Assessment

Baseline assessments including DXA scans and blood draws to measure various health metrics

1 visit (in-person)

Active Weight Loss Phase

Participants receive weekly group-based behavioral obesity treatment with dietary interventions

16 weeks
16 visits (virtual)

Augmentation Phase

Non-responders receive protein supplements or supervised resistance exercise training

8 weeks
8 visits (virtual)

Maintenance Phase

Monthly group sessions to promote continued engagement in dietary and exercise behaviors

36 weeks
9 visits (virtual)

Follow-up

Participants are monitored for safety and effectiveness after treatment

4 weeks
