What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

This trial explores the experience of wearing contact lenses replaced weekly instead of biweekly. It targets individuals who already use and are satisfied with Acuvue® Oasys® lenses. Participants will initially wear their usual two-week lenses, then switch to the one-week replacement lenses for comparison. Those who have worn Acuvue® Oasys® lenses and have good vision with them may find this trial suitable. As an unphased trial, it offers participants the opportunity to contribute to understanding the benefits of more frequent lens replacement.

Do I need to stop my current medications for the trial?

The trial does not specify if you need to stop your current medications. However, your medication use should not have changed in the last 30 days, and you should be in good general health.

What prior data suggests that these one-week replacement contact lenses are safe?

Research has shown that one-week replacement contact lenses are generally safe and easy to use. Large studies with children reported very few complications with these lenses. Serious eye infections, such as severe bacterial ones, were rare.

Other studies found that kids quickly adapted to wearing these lenses, with most finding them easy to insert. This suggests the lenses are comfortable and cause little irritation. Overall, evidence supports these lenses as a safe choice for contact lens wearers.12345

Why are researchers excited about this trial?

Researchers are excited about one-week replacement contact lenses for near-sightedness because they offer a fresh approach to lens wear that could enhance convenience and eye health. Unlike traditional biweekly or monthly lenses, these lenses are replaced every week, potentially reducing the buildup of deposits and allergens, which can improve comfort and eye health. This frequent replacement schedule might also simplify care routines, offering users an easier and potentially safer way to maintain clear vision.

What evidence suggests that one-week replacement contact lenses are effective for near-sightedness?

Research shows that soft contact lenses can enhance the quality of life for children and teens with vision issues compared to glasses. In this trial, participants will use both biweekly and one-week replacement contact lenses. Studies have found that special contact lenses, such as dual-focus lenses, effectively slow the progression of nearsightedness in children. These lenses are both effective and safe for managing this condition. By potentially reducing the eye's growth in length, these lenses can help control the worsening of vision. Overall, contact lenses offer a promising method for managing nearsightedness.678910

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

This trial is for people who are near-sighted and currently use Acuvue® Oasys® lenses, which they replace every two weeks. Participants should be happy with their current lenses but willing to try a new one-week reusable lens for about two weeks.
