Inflammatory Bowel Disease for Children
(CIDsCaNN Trial)
What You Need to Know Before You Apply
What is the purpose of this trial?
This trial aims to understand why inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is common in Canadian children and teenagers. Researchers seek to identify the best treatments for different types of IBD by examining various factors, such as environment and genetics, near the onset of the disease. They will measure outcomes like symptom relief, growth, and intestinal healing. Children and teens diagnosed with Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, or undefined IBD may be suitable for this study. As an unphased study, this trial offers participants the chance to contribute to groundbreaking research that could enhance the understanding and treatment of IBD in young people.
Why are researchers excited about this trial?
Researchers are excited about this trial because it aims to better understand and improve the care for children with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in Canada. Unlike standard treatments such as aminosalicylates, corticosteroids, and immunosuppressants, which primarily focus on managing symptoms, this trial seeks to identify more precise and personalized treatment approaches. By analyzing data and outcomes from various centers, the trial could reveal new insights into how different treatments affect children differently, paving the way for more effective and tailored therapies.
