What You Need to Know Before You Apply

What is the purpose of this trial?

The objective of this study is to assess the effectiveness of portable air filtration (PAF) for mitigating lead dust exposures and reducing childhood blood lead levels in older housing.

Are You a Good Fit for This Trial?

Inclusion Criteria

My child is under 7 and has a blood lead level above 5 µg/dL.
Child must reside in housing built before 1978
Child must sleep at home during participation in the two month-long study

Exclusion Criteria

Anything in child's health history that could affect the study results
Any circumstance that could interfere with guardian's/parent's ability to consent and/or participate in the study

Timeline for a Trial Participant

Screening

Participants are screened for eligibility to participate in the trial

2-4 weeks

Intervention

Portable air filtration units are used in homes to reduce lead dust exposure

8 weeks
Measurements at start, midpoint, and end

Follow-up

Participants are monitored for changes in blood lead levels after the intervention

4 weeks
